NICNAS Business Services user guide

This guide contains step-by-step instructions on how to access and use NICNAS Business Services to renew the NICNAS registration of your business online.

1. First time user – Create a NICNAS Business Services account

  • Visit NICNAS Business Services login, then select Sign up to NICNAS Business Services
  • Note the details provided on the disclaimer page, and then select the check box to confirm you have read and understood the information provided, then click Next
  • Enter your ABN and click Get ABR details. (If you receive an error message that the ABN already exists in the system, please contact your Business Administrator or alternatively contact NICNAS on 1800 638 528.)
  • Your legal entity name will automatically be populated.
  • Complete the rest of the enrolment form, confirm and click Submit.
  • You will receive an email with your user name and instructions about how to set your password. Click on the link in the email.
  • You will be sent to the password reset page at NICNAS Business Services. Enter your username and click Reset password
  • You will receive a password reset email. Click the link in the email.
  • Enter your new password, confirm and click Submit.
  • You will see a message confirming that your password has been created.
  • You will can now log into NICNAS Business Services

2. Forgotten password

  • Visit NICNAS Business Services login, then select Forgotten your password?
  • Enter your user name and select Reset password. If you have forgotten your username, or do not know the email address you have registered with NICNAS, please call us on 1800 638 528 or email NICNAS Business Services
  • You will receive an email with instructions about how to reset your password. Click on the link in the email.
  • You will be sent to the password reset page at NICNAS Business Services.
  • Enter your new password, click confirm and then Submit.
  • You will see a message confirming that your password has been changed.

3. View and update your business details

  • Make sure you are logged in to NICNAS Business Services with your username and password.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, select Business details.
  • To update the details of your business, postal address and registered business address, select Edit and Add new address.
  • Change the details and click Save.

4. Renew the registration of your business

  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, select the registration period (e.g. 2016-17) and then Register now.
  • The renewal registration application form will appear. Enter the estimated value in Australian dollars (numbers only, no dollar symbol or commas) of the industrial chemicals imported and/or manufactured by your business in the relevant registration year (1 September – 31 August).   • Note the registration level associated with the total value of your chemicals.
  • Check the declaration confirming your intent to import and/or manufacture chemicals and select Submit.
  • You will see a message confirming that your application has been submitted.

5. Change your registration level

  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, click on the Registration tab located on the top navigation bar.
  • On the Registration page, click on Change registration level button against the relevant registration year.
  • Enter your revised introduction (import and/or manufacture) value (numbers only, no dollar symbol or commas).
  • If your revised total introduction value results in an increase in registration level:
  • Confirm and click Submit.
  • An invoice for the difference in registration charge will be created.
  • Click on the Payments tab located on the top navigation bar.
  • Download and pay the invoice as detail in step 7.
  • If your revised total introduction value results in an decrease in registration level
  • Enter your Bank details, confirm and click Submit.
  • A downgrade request will be sent to NICNAS for consideration.
  • If approved by NICNAS you will be refunded the difference in registration charge.

6. View registration history

  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, select Registration.
  • On the Registrations table, sort the columns by selecting the column sorting icon.
  • You can also sort your registration history in descending order of registration year.

7. Download invoice and pay fee

  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • Renew the registration of your business as detailed in step 4 above.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, select Payments.
  • In the invoice table, select Download on the invoice you need to pay—you may either save or open the invoice.
  • To pay the registration fee for your business by EFT or BPAY, follow the instructions in the invoice.
  • To pay the registration fee for your business by credit card, select Pay, enter credit card details and security code into the boxes provided, then select Pay Now.

8. Download receipt

  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • Renew the registration of your business as detailed in step 4 above.
  • Download invoice and pay fee as detailed in 7 above.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard select Payments.
  • Select the Receipts section on the Payment page.
  • Select Download on the receipt—you may save or open the receipt.

9. Download registration certificate

  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • Renew the registration of your business as detailed in step 4 above.
  • Download invoice and pay fee as detailed in 7 above.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, select Registration.
  • Select Download on the registration certificate—you may either save or open the certificate.

10. Add new users

  • You must be a Business Administrator to do this.
  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, click on the Users tab located on the top navigation bar.
  • Click on Add new user.
  • Assign the new user an access role. This will determine the level of access the user will have for your NICNAS Business Services account
  • Assign the new user a contact type. NICNAS will use this information to select the relevant contact person. (Please note that there can only be one nominated registration contact).
  • The new user will receive an email with their user name and instructions about how to set up their password as detailed in step 1

11. Edit user details

  • You must be a Business Administrator to do this. Business Users can only edit their own contact details.
  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, click on the Users tab located on the top navigation bar.
  • Click on Details next to the relevant user listed in the Active users table.
  • Click on Edit.
  • Update the user details and click Save.

12. Remove users

  • You must be a Business Administrator to do this.
  • Log into NICNAS Business Services with your personal username and password.
  • On the NICNAS Business Services dashboard, click on the Users tab located on the top navigation bar.
  • Click on Details next to the relevant user listed in the Active users table.
  • Click on Deactivate. (You cannot deactivate a registration contact user. You must reassign the registration contact to another user before they can be deactivated)
  • Update the user details and click Save.
  • You will see the user is now listed in the inactive users table. They can no longer login to your NICNAS Business Services account.
