How do I register?

You must register your business with us before you start importing or manufacturing.

Note: you do not register products or ingredients in products. But you must check whether all ingredients in your products are on our Inventory.

Foreign (non-Australian) companies: you must have an Australian Registered Body Number (ARBN) to register with us. If you use an Australian distributor who is registered with us, you do not need to register with us.

Step 1: Determine whether you need to register your business with us. Remember that you do not register your products, chemicals or ingredients.

Step 2Calculate your registration level and fee (there is no pro-rata registration).

Step 3: Sign up (enrol) for a NICNAS Business Services account.

Step 4: Log in to NICNAS Business Services and register your business (or renew your registration) and pay your fee online.

Once we process your application, you will be given a registration number and be issued with a registration certificate. Your name (as importer and/or manufacturer) will then be placed on the Register of Industrial Chemicals Introducers.

Your registration remains in effect until 31 August each year.
