Draft priority existing chemical report for Decabromodiphenyl Ether
19 March 2019

This draft report is open for comment from 5 March 2019 – 1 April 2019.

The report focuses on workers handling decaBDE or its products, the general public coming in contact directly or indirectly with articles containing decaBDE and to the environment.

IMAP Tranche 26 up for public comment
19 March 2019

We have published new Human Health and Environment assessments as part of the IMAP framework.

The public comment period closes on 3 May 2019.

IMAP framework is a scientific and risk-based model for assessing chemicals. The assessment effort increases with each tier. A decision is made at the end of each assessment tier if the next tier of assessment is required to determine risk.

Reforms update — passage of bills through both Houses of Parliament
25 February 2019

The Industrial Chemicals Bill 2017 (IC Bill) passed the Senate, with amendment, on 14 February 2019. The House of Representatives approved the amendments on 18 February 2019. The IC Bill, along with the Transitional Provisions and Amendment Bills, which have also been passed by both Houses of Parliament, is currently awaiting Royal Assent by the Governor-General to become Australian law.
