Following consultation with a number of stakeholders—as outlined at Past Consultations—NICNAS has now published Guidelines - Applying for certain information to be exempt from publication by NICNAS and Establishing a case for confidential listing of chemicals on the Australian Inventory of Chemical Substances. The guidelines contain detailed information about applying for confidential AICS listing and procedures to follow when seeking certain information to be exempt from publication, under the Industrial Chemicals (Notification and Assessment) Act 1989.

A general explanation of the ways in which NICNAS protects confidential commercial information—and the background to our work in this area—is now available on the About NICNAS—Confidentiality page of the NICNAS website.
