Will my current registration carry over to the new scheme?

Yes. If you're currently registered with us, you'll automatically be registered with AICIS on 1 July 2020 with the same registration ID. Your registration expires on 31 August 2020.

If you continue introducing industrial chemicals after 30 August 2020, you must renew your registration online through AICIS Business Services by 1 September 2020. We'll provide instructions on how to renew your AICIS registration as we approach the renewal period.

Annual declaration for all registrants - begins 2021

The annual declaration applies to all registrants under AICIS and can be submitted at the same time that you renew your registration.

There is no annual declaration in 2020. Your first annual declaration is due by 30 November 2021 and covers the 14 month period from 1 July 2020 - 31 August 2021.

No more annual reporting for exemptions

If you're currently introducing a chemical under a NICNAS exemption category, you do not submit an annual report at the end of this registration year. But you must still keep records to demonstrate that you meet the criteria under the NICNAS exemption provisions.

Until 1 July 2020, you must still submit a form to us before you introduce under the following exemption categories:

  • Research, development or analysis: manufactured in a fixed apparatus in a specific location
  • Cosmetic use: 10-100kg in a 12 month period
