< 1% Cosmetic exemption This exemption is available to introducers of new industrial chemicals that are present in introduced cosmetics at a concentration of less than 1%. Introducers using this exemption category to introduce chemicals for cosmetic use must be able to demonstrate that the chemical is non-hazardous according to the ASCC Approved Criteria for Classifying Hazardous Substances, and the criteria stipulated in regulation 4J of the Industrial Chemicals (Notification and Assessment Regulations) 1990.
Notification requirements Notification prior to introduction is not required. Reporting requirements Introducers using this exemption category are required to report the following information about the chemical.
