Components of AICS

 

AICS has both non-confidential and a confidential sections. Each section contains the following chemical details only:

• CAS Number: The CAS Number is a unique number assigned to a substance when it is entered into the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) Registry database. The general format is
  XXX-XX-X;

• Chemical Name: Chemicals are listed under their CAS approved name;

• Molecular Formula: Molecular formula for some chemicals is listed in AICS;

• Associated names (if any): Chemicals are more commonly known by names other than their CAS approved name. Some of these associated names or synonyms are also included in AICS.
