NICNAS provided technical expertise to the EPHC Standards Setting Working Group and participated in a workshop on developing a health-based methodology for setting ambient air standards hosted by the National Health and Medical Research Council and DoHA in July 2006. The workshop sought common health-based approaches to hazard assessment for the air quality standards-setting process.
The
outcome of the workshop: a report titled Ambient Air Quality Standards
Setting – An Approach to Health Based Hazard Assessment, will inform the
EPHC Standards Setting Working Group and the National Environmental Protection
Council (NEPC) in the processes of reviewing the National Environment
Protection Measure (NEPM) for Ambient Air Quality, due to be finalised in 2008.
