Low Volume Chemical (LVC)

LVC permits are for small volume chemicals to be introduced at a rate of up to 100 kg per year (up to 1000kg per year in certain cases). The duration of a LVC permit is up to three years. It may be renewed any number of times, provided certain criteria are met. LVC permits and permit renewals are issued within 20 days of receipt of a complete notification, provided the Director, NICNAS is satisfied the requirements of the Act are fulfilled.

A number of low regulatory concern chemicals introduced at up to 100 kg per year are exempt from notification to NICNAS

Holders of an LVC permit are required to provide an annual report

The following additional forms are available for LVC applications

• Confidential information to remain exempt from the gazette notice (Form 3); and

• Third party information to remain confidential from the applicant (Form 5)
