Early Introduction Permit (EIP) Under certain circumstances, a chemical may be eligible for an Early Introduction Permit (EIP) allowing it to be introduced into Australia before its assessment is complete. Under normal circumstances, an application for an EIP will be decided within 28 days.
Section 30A (EIP) permits are for non-hazardous new industrial chemicals.
To be eligible for an EIP, applicants need to satisfy the Director, NICNAS that:
In general, a polymer that qualifies for notification as a PLC under current PLC criteria would satisfy the criteria for an EIP application. Application for an EIP permit is made when submitting a certificate notification, and is covered by the same additional forms as the certificate notification. If assessment of the certificate notification is stopped for a substantial period of time, the EIP will be revoked. More information
