To make sure these products are safe for the workers handling them, the environment and for use by consumers, the Australian Government regulates the ingredients used in the manufacture and importation of cosmetics in Australia.

Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology is engineering at the atomic or molecular level. It is a group of enabling technologies that involves the manipulation of matter at the nanoscale (generally accepted as 100 nanometres or less, where a nanometer is one-billionth of a metre) to create new materials, structures and devices. At this very small scale, the chemical and physical properties of materials can change, such as colour, magnetism and the ability to conduct electricity.
