National Precursor Chemical Framework

 

The Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy agreed in November 2010 to the establishment of a national precursor chemical control framework. The framework consists of a Precursor Advisory Group (PAG) which is made up of Commonwealth, State and Territory government stakeholders and an industry stakeholder group, the Precursor Industry Reference Group. Precursor chemicals at risk of diversion will be subject to a thorough risk assessment process and the PAG will put forward risk mitigation approaches to relevant Governments. The Attorney-General’s Department manages a Secretariat for both the PAG and PIRG.
