Annual Reporting FAQs

I have already provided advice to NICNAS that I am introducing a cosmetic under an exemption; do I still need to provide an annual report?

Yes. If you have already notified NICNAS that you will be introducing a cosmetic under an exemption you will just need to confirm the details of the chemical introduced. When it comes time to annually report on an exemption, the chemical data you have already provided to NICNAS will be displayed by the web-based annual reporting application. Accordingly, you will only need to confirm the chemical data for the reporting year (1 September 2004 – 31 August 2005).

Online exemption reporting is not expected to be available until after the legislated deadline of 28 September. In order to meet legislative obligations, NICNAS has provided the means for a company to register its intention to submit their exemption report at a later date. Registration for exemption reporting will involve providing basic data such as estimates of the number of chemicals expected to be reported and committing to report by a later agreed date. This will enable companies to fulfil their reporting obligations, provided the full annual report submitted later by the agreed date.
